Jessie and Enric met in 2018, introduced by their dear friend Gas Fernandez from Big Mama Swing Madrid. They have recorded and toured together through Spain and now they would like to make some small gesture of thanks to Gas and Big Mama Swing for bringing them together. Without venues like Big Mama collaborations like ours wouldn’t be possible. So for the dancers, the teachers, the listeners, the supporters of swing music; we dedicate this to you. In times like this, small businesses are under huge strain, and we would love to be able to do our part to support our dear friends. We have been lucky to be supported by a very generous swing dancing community and now we want to pay it back in some small way. So for the next three months all proceeds from the sale of this EP will go directly to Big Mama Swing Madrid. We are grateful for everything you do.

The laid-back groove of the Brooks Prumo Orchestra hits the sweet spot. This is fine swing without any try-hard hype. The studio mix is balanced, and it hops and slides like music should (unlike some other contemporary jazz). "Out of Nowhere" is outstanding: inspired arrangement, knockout playing, genuine emotion. The vocal numbers get better with every listen, and "Blue Lester" has about it a certain sunburn-on-your-skin mint julep nighttime ease. jakespatz
